I have these still sitting on my shelf, unfortunately the arcane relic used to play them is lost to me
I kinda missed out on the whole Star Wars thing when I was a kid. It’s not an excuse, but Return of the Jedi was released when I was only a year old. A bigger reason was that my dad liked the movies but he wasn’t a superfan, so I wasn’t inundated with the franchise at a young age like a lot of other people.
Every once in a while I’d catch a few minutes of a film on one of our local channels on a Sunday afternoon, but that was the extent of my familiarity with the trilogy. It wasn’t until high school that I really started to appreciate the wonderful world of Star Wars.
In the late 90s, the “original” three Episodes were re-released in theaters. My first official, watch-the-whole-thing Star Wars moment was with the “Special Editions”. It was a strange experience for me. Here I was, being entertained by a Star Wars movie in an actual theater, but the people I was with who had loved the movies forever were angry. I didn’t understand why.
